Phil and Susie welcome you to Uncle Phil's Books. Come on in!

The virtual bookstore that thinks it's a proper shop. With real books, knowledgeable people, affordable prices and traditional service.

We have a large and varied stock (19,000 books and counting,) ranging from the esoteric to the easy-to-read, on just about any subject one could think of, listed by category. (See blue panel at left.) There are facilities for both a quick search and an advanced search. New stock arrives daily, and there are hundreds of books still waiting to be catalogued and uploaded, so if you can't find what you are looking for please contact us. or go to the Offline Search link in the Navigation section.

From the moment I picked your book up until I laid it down, I was convulsed with laughter. Some day I intend reading it. Groucho Marx.

Pictures.

We are currently working on providing scanned pictures of all of our books, but this is a massive (and tedious) undertaking and will take poor Susie (who drew the short straw) some time. We're over half way through, but meanwhile if you would like pictures of any of our books please e-mail. We do not use 'stock' photos - what you see is what you'll get.

This is not a novel to be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force. Dorothy Parker

Our no-quibble guarantee

While every attempt will be made to give an accurate description, our aim is to please our customers, so we will accept any book back and give a full refund if it fails to meet expectations as to condition, provided that we are notified within seven days of delivery and that goods are returned to us within 14 days of notification, and in the condition they left us.

Books have no value in themselves. They are valuable because they make more real, more interesting, more effective the other things the readers are doing, thinking, feeling and enjoying. Lionel McColvin

It's praised, they hum the lines, shops stock it,
